Applied Measurements Limited was formed
In 1991, by the current managing
director, Peter Lewis. He is still
actively involved in the daily
running of the business, giving clients
direct access to the owner of the
business. This access offers the extra
assurance, not always present with
larger organisations, that our
customers can talk to the people at the
top.
Currently, Applied Measurements turnover
is approaching £1,000,000 per annum and
employs 15 staff. The company owns its
own premises (5,000 sq. ft) in
Aldermaston near Reading, Berkshire
with easy motorway links to the rest of
the UK.
Applied Measurements supports their
product range with a high degree of
technical and application expertise.
This is achieved by employing
experienced engineers who have in
excess of 80 years combined experience
in the sensor and instrumentation
market place. Applied Measurements is
a progressive company with an extensive
product range, which is actively
expanding to meet the demands of
industry.

As Applied Measurements has expanded,
great care has been taken to ensure that
product quality and quality of service
are maintained at a high level. All
products that leave the company are
100% inspected, tested and calibrated.
Significant investment has been made to
ensure that in-house test facilities
are kept up to date and in line with
customer requirements. In-house facilities allow for the fully
traceable calibration of load cells
from 2 grams to 120 tonnes and pressure
sensors from 1 bar to 700 bar. Close
relationships with external test houses
ensure that any testing required, that
falls outside our in-house capabilities
is handled with the same quality and
care as is applied to in-house testing,
and within affordable budget levels. All products supplied and manufactured
by Applied Measurements' are supported
with a 3-year warranty, which further
enhances our stance on product quality
and reliability.

Applied Measurements' product range
employs a number of sensing
technologies which consists of load
cells, pressure sensors, displacement
sensors, torque transducers and an
associated range of associated and
process instrumentation.
Applied Measurements are also an
approved distibutor for the
extensive range of analogue and
digital instumentation, manufactured
in the UK by Mantracourt Electronics. A major strength of Applied
Measurements is in the design and
manufacture of sensors and
instrumentation for applications where
standard products are not suitable. In
fact, around 30% of the products sold
fall into this category. Another facet of the company is its'
ability to respond to customers
requirements whether they be budget or
availability orientated. Applied
Measurements not only listen to
customers' requirements, but strives
to achieve them. |

Applied Measurements' were proud to be
selected by the Royal Greenwich
Observatory as the load cell supplier
for the two Gemini Telescopes. This
product involved the development of
special very high accuracy load cells,
which pushed the boundaries of load
cell technology to their limits. The
product called for the manufacture of
some 750 sensors as part of a £500,000
contract. This was delivered precisely
on time and met one hundred per cent
the customers' specified requirements.
Applied Measurements' customer base is
as varied as the range of products that
are available and include some very
prestigious companies: AEA Technology,
British Aerospace, British Gas, Burmah
Castrol, Ford Motor Company, Dairy
Crest, GEC, GKN, ICI, Jordan Cereals,
Kellogg Company, Lucas Aerospace,
Nuclear Electric, Pirelli Cables,
Rover Cars and most of the major UK
water authorities. |
